Intensity - Lucaon Pictus

"Intensity" was created for a joint-venture event between Prairie Art Alliance, Springfield Poets and Writers and the Henson Robinson Zoo.  Works of art and poems have been inspired by the residents of the Zoo.  "Intensity - Lucaon Pictus" is of an African Wild Dog at the Zoo.  While obtaining the perfect reference photo can sometimes be a challenge (e.g. sighting through barriers, less than ideal lighting or distracting buildings), with research and creativity, a painting can be created that honors the spirit of the wildlife.

I have always been intrigued by African Wild Dogs.  Their coloring is just spectacular!  And the two residents at the zoo were very receptive to having their photos taken on my preparatory trip to the Zoo.  To see "Intensity," as well as works of other artists and poets, the works will be on display at the Henson Robinson Zoo during Dr. Doolittle Day on May 11th.
